Next Thursday is Thanksgiving. We will be closed to spend the holiday with our families. We wish you a safe and joyful holiday as well.
I have never "re-ran" a newsletter before, however I was searching for something to say about giving thanks, and found this message from last year to be just as relevent today as it was then:
The great Roman philosopher Cicero wrote, "A thankful heart is not only the greatest virtue, but the parent of all the other virtues." In this season of Thanksgiving, it is important for each of us to remember all that we have, and all that we must be truly thankful for.
Here at Laudisio, we are thankful for many, many things. Aside from the basic joys of life, we are thankful to have a beautiful establishment, in a town as wonderful as Boulder. We are thankful to have so many special people working with us every day. We are thankful for the ability to share our love of culinary delights with all who walk in our door, and we are thankful for all of the customers who choose Laudisio!
We all know economic times are at an historic low. However, simply by having the capacity to read this email, you are among the fortunate. You have a roof over your head, and electricity. Chances are your refrigerator is overflowing as well. Not all in our county share in these basic needs. It is estimated that Boulder and Broomfield Counties have over 40,000 residents living in poverty, and hunger is a real part of their lives, every day.
In this time of Thanksgiving, it is important to follow the words of Theodore Roosevelt, who said, “Let us remember that, as much has been given us, much will be expected from us, and that true homage comes from the heart as well as from the lips, and shows itself in deeds.”
As we give thanks with our words and in our hearts, let us also give thanks in our deeds. Please join us in supporting Community Food Share, whose mission is “to ensure that people in Boulder and Broomfield counties are food secure.”
